Tape files are simple headerless sound files, in 1 bit most significant bit first mono format. The sample rate is 24000Hz - while the emulator supports any sample rate that is sufficiently high, tape utilities assume this rate, so it is not recommended to change tape_sr. The size of a tape file is 3000 bytes per second.
